Termination of Control Cables
Cables form part of the electrical power and control system and their reliability is a key factor in the reliability of the electrical network. The design of the cable installation system has a significant influence on the reliability of the cables. 
Generally, cables have limitations on operating temperatures, bending radii, pulling tensions, side wall pressures, voltage stress and exposure to environmental influences during installation and operation. A poor design can make cable installation and termination difficult, which can result in cable failures.




A cable installation system may be broadly classified according to the following characteristics:

- Power, control, instrumentation, data or communications
- Power - high voltage, medium voltage or low voltage
- Underground, overhead (air), or inside a building / structure
- Hazardous zones
- Terminations and joints
- Variations in installation along the cable run
- Special installations
