HUMIDITY-SENSOR PLUS
Application area
High concentration of water in hydraulic systems and for example at the stern tube can cause severe irreparable damages. The continuous monitoring of Lube oil and a prompt detection of a change or ageing could enable identification respectively a prevention of damages. Through the control of the lubricant it is possible to optimize maintenance and oil change intervals.
The Humidity Sensor plus, which could integrated in the tank directly, records values and changes of different categories: Temperature, conductivity, relative humidity of oil and relative permittivity. As Conductivity and relative permittivity are influenced through the temperature the sensor is able to show the data at a reference temperature of 40 °C in addition to the characteristic values. To determine the remaining lifetime of oil the basis should be the relative humidity as well as the permittivity.

The Sensor has a memory which stores the data for about half a year. Changes of lubricant characteristics are valuated automatically. Errors, warnings and alert are displayed via interface (CAN) or RS232. There are two current outputs with 4 – 20 mA available.
On the basis of the characteristic values it is possible to distinguish different oil types. Oil refreshments and oil change intervals could be determined/ optimized and relative humidity as well as free water could be identified. The ageing and aging rates of the oil will be specified with long term gradients of the temperature and the acidification.
