StorMonitor - Electromagnetic Storm Detector
The StorMonitor is an electromagnetic type of thunderstorm detector. It registers storm activity and lightning discharges within a 15 km radius of its antenna. The Indelec StorMonitor was officially introduced in France on 1st July 2009. StorMonitor is the result of seven (7) years of development and testing. The StorMonitor provides alert information to the site operations manager by:
The StorMonitor can be used on all television broadcasting sites.
- Triggering relevant alarms on nearby or approaching storms.
- Registering storm events.
- Preventing unwanted alarms.
The StorMonitor can be used on all television broadcasting sites.
Features:
The StorMonitor comprises an antenna with 25 m of shielded cable and a processing unit. There is 75 m extension cable available as an option. During a thunderstorm, lightning strikes radiate electromagnetic waves that are detected by the StorMonitor antenna. Signals are transmitted to the processing unit, which provides real-time lightning strike intensity and thunderstorm activity. StorMonitor is provided with a self-test system that allows the user to check if the system is operating properly. The processing unit has LED indicators for:
